The beginning of Spalas Kennels was in 1985, when Roy lost his pet German shepherd.. Together Mia and Roy decided to buy a Rottweiler called CH Sgroies Astrid Star(Astar) from a Registered Breeder in Victoria.

One thing lead to another and they started to show her and quickly got her Australian Championship title. Purchasing a few more rotties along the way commencing their breeding program and the commencement of Spalas Kennels.

Soon Spalas went into other breeds including Boxers, Jack Russell Terriers and Parson Russell Terriers...

Their show stock where Multi BIS winners and they have bred many Australian Champions along the way and to their knowledge the only Parson Russell Terrier in Australia to Grand Champion Status.

In 2004 Mia finally got her much awaited Skye Terrier, CH Ashjay Legally Blonde (Blondie) and unfortunately the passing of the last rottie they owned/bred Annie.

2006 saw the addition of Ch Santlin Skyes The Limit (Mac) to which Roy enjoyed showing him.

Both Blondie and Mac have had great success in the show ring with Classes In Show and Multi BIG and Classes In Group.

During the next year their granddaughter, Bianca joined the team and brought to Spalas her Border Terrier CH Fernbrook Ace O Spades (Dakoda).

2008 saw the first Skye Terrier litter from Spalas between Blondie and Mac.

Out of 6 puppies, 4 have gone into the show ring with great success. Mini owned and handled by Bianca, Storm owned and handled by Mia, Mel owned and handled by Brittney Jager and Gypsy owned and handled by Danial Bray.

Spalas is a family kennel with Mia ,Roy and Julie having over 20 yrs experience in showing and breeding and the future of Spalas in the learning hands of Bianca and Joshua.
